I finally have a few pictures to post of our front porch. I should have taken pictures BEFORE we did anything, but I forgot.
I had fun picking out flowers and flower pots, but it took me about two days and four different stores (with mutliple trips to each store) to decide what I wanted. I'm definitely a girl. The first round of pots I bought turned out to be too small. They LOOKED big in the store, but when I got them home and put them on the porch they looked tiny. So I took them all back and bought monster-sized pots. See the big pots at the top of the stairs? A lady saw me carrying them out of the store and her eyes got really big. She asked if the pots were for my yard because she thought they were huge... but somehow when I put them on the porch they don't look as huge :)
I had to BUY DIRT to fill up the flower pots. It's kind of weird to spend good money for dirt, but what are the other options? Digging up the next-door neighbor's yard? If you are looking for a good investment idea, buy a field full of dirt, put it in plastic bags and sell it. People will pay a lot for good dirt :)
One really great thing is that my parents remembered they had a wooden glider sitting in the shed and they donated it to my front porch project! It LOOKS like it's been sitting in a shed for a while, but I was still excited to get it. We'll probably sand it down and stain it later.

So even though the porch has chipping paint (we will work on that later this summer) I am still thrilled about the changes we've made already. It feels welcoming and relaxing. I'm really happy with it.
